Most probably, you’ve already heard about cellulites or know someone who has that, or perhaps, you yourself are battling against those ugly lumps. It is a common knowledge that cellulites are those dimpled appearances of the skin caused by fat deposits which are just below the surface of the skin. Most people think that only overweight people could have cellulites, but truth is, even slender people suffer from these ugly, cottage-cheese like lumps, too.

Cellulite is basically caused by toxin build-ups in our body. Our body’s muscles are covered with a padding of fatty, connective tissue which is surrounded by a liquid. This liquid nourishes the body and helps remove the waste products. A network of fibers hold the fatty tissues in place to ensure that all waste products are removed from our body. When this waste removal system malfunctions, waste products start to build up and the connective tissue becomes saturated with liquid. Eventually, this connective tissue becomes thick and hard, forming hard pockets that puff up, resulting to the cottae cheese effect which is popularly known as cellulites.

Other factors that contribute to the development of cellulites on our skin are insufficient intake of water, less physical activity especially cellulite exercise, constipation and digestion problems, tension and stress, pollution, incorrect breathing, fatigue, poor eating habits, and hormonal cycles. Those who drink too much alcohol, coffee, and tea are also highly susceptible to cellulites, as well as those who smokes and who loves eating spicy, fried, and oily foods.

Cellulites are usually seen on the inner, upper, and back of thighs, upper back below the shoulders, ankles, inside and back of upper arms, buttocks, lower back, hips, and stomach. If you want to know if you have cellulites in the areas mentioned, simply press the tissue between your thumb and finger or between the palms of your two hands. If it is just a normal fat, you can observe that its appearance is smooth. If it has ripples or bumps, then it is cellulite.

Cellulites are definitely not hereditary, however, people who acquired bad habits from their parents are usually prone to having it. Women who have just given birth are also prone to cellulites since their system is usually flooded with estrogen and there’s an interference in the blood circulation, causing toxin build-up.

If you want to get rid of cellulites, there are various treatments and products available. However, the best treatment of all would be to live a healthy lifestyle. Eat more healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and make sure to drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Never substitute your water intake with drinking iced tea for it will just trigger the development of cellulites in your body. Moreover, having regular exercise will definitely helo you get rid of cellulites as it allows for a good circulation of blood in your body.
